Lady and Sons in Savannah
Good morning everyone! I hope you are all doing well on this beautiful sunny day. Today I wanted to share with you that I got to eat at Paula Deen’s restaurant in Savannah, GA this week. It was super exciting! For those of you that are foodies like me and watch The Food Network constantly, I thought you might like to see some pictures… Although, I realize this food is not that healthy, it was seriously amazing!
For those of you that do not know, Paula Deen has an awesome story too. As a young woman, she faced many obstacles, as her parents died, her marriage ended, and she and her sons were poor to the point of facing homelessness. She also suffered from terrible anxiety issues. However, this amazing lady was able to pull herself out of this by starting a business, where she made bagged lunches that her two sons delivered. She specialized in traditional Southern food and eventually was able to open up the Lady and Sons, and write a cookbook. This was the beginning of her success, and she became the TV personality we all know and love! I also got to speak with some of the employees and they said that they are treated like part of the Deen family and they love working at the Lady and Sons, which is super awesome! Anyways, here are some pictures at her restaurant, which I highly recommend if you are ever in Savannah!
My source for information about Paula’s story.
This is my meal at the Lady and Sons from the buffet. I got baked chicken, collard greens, green beans, lima beans, black eyed peas, yams, boiled cabbage, mashed potatoes, and fried chicken in gravy. I tried to be healthy, but on vacations you need to live a little! They also serve a hot pancake and cheddar biscuit with each meal! Super yummy!!! Unsweetened ice tea was a great accompaniment to this meal. I didn’t take a picture (I should have!), but I also had a delicious chocolate butter cake for dessert.
Here I am with Paula Deen at her store!
Lastly, here is a picture of the Spanish moss on trees by a sidewalk in Savannah. It is so pretty!
Next week, I will return to writing recipes…Happy Friday!
