New York City Pizza
Good evening everyone! Tonight I have just a short post that I am going to share with you, about my foodie adventures in New York this weekend! My boyfriend Phil has been telling me about how amazing New York City pizza for awhile now, and I have to say, he was soooo right about it! Regular pizza just does not compare anymore! He took me to a really cool place, called Lombardi’s Pizza. This place is the real deal! According to their website, the pizzeria opened in 1905, and it was the first pizzeria in the whole United States!
We ordered a pizza with meatballs and pancetta, as well as an antipasto salad. The salad came out with a ton of beautiful roasted red peppers, which they actually roast right there at the restaurant daily! The pizza had a very thin and crispy crust, with lots of tomato sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil. It was really delicious and made in a real brick oven! While I know that this is not health food, I actually don’t think the pizza was as bad as it could have been, because the crust was really very thin, and there was much more sauce than there was cheese. Overall it was a really good meal and a fun experience! If you all are ever in New York, it is worth the extra points!
Lastly, I also checked out the Chelsea Market, which is like a seriously awesome place, where you can get ALL kinds of different food! I ended up buying some pasta (made in Italy!) and also some Tuscan Herb flavored olive oil. They had everything from fresh lobsters and fish, to delicious pastries and desserts. Unfortunately I do not have pictures, but it is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area!
We had a great time in the city this weekend! I am working on making some pumpkin recipes now, so hopefully for the next post I will have a fallish recipe for you all! :-)
